Hello!
Some days before we changed RO membranes in osmotic system, and now I have some used RO membranes (XLE-440). Maybe you know, where to use them? I think that there is rather big amount of polyamid film inside each other, and maybe i can use it, not to put them in trash? I have an idea to try it as a creenhouse coverage... maybe you know any other and better ways of using it?
And also I think that every day on Earth many membranes change to new, and old just go to trash. Maybe there are any industrial methouds of their better utilisation or reuse of their components?

Sincerely Yours

There has been some research done on reusing them as UF cartridges after oxidising off the outer layers of the membrane.

The big problem i see is that an RO spiral wound membrane would be much harder to clean effectively when compared to a UF membrane.
I suspect that it could only be successful in relatively clean water.
