reverse return question

In a reverse return heating system does it matter if the pump is installed on return or supply line just because it is a reverse return system?

In a thermal fluid, well-controlled, system with various parallel "consumers", such as those installed in chemical plants, regradless of whether the piping design is "direct" or "reversed", the pump suction is on the return line with a reasonable constant head from the expansion/surge/ venting tank. The heater is on the pump discharge.

I wonder whether this would apply to your question.

In central heating the pump is installed "before" or "after" heater and as you say,the expansion tank on suction of the pump.
Does it make any change in your answer?
 
Central heating (hydronics?) is evidently different from hot thermal oil process systems, mainly becauase of the circulating fluid characteristics.
 
I see that the full pump discharge pressure is provided to the consumers with the heater ("boiler") resistance downstream.
It is evident that central heating (hydronics?) differs from industrial process systems using thermal oils, the reasons may be the circulating fluid characteristics and the temperature levels applied.
