Basically, most of the components got switched somehow to being all white...

Is there a way to revert the colors back to what they are when you make them the displayed part?

I am using NX 1919, by the way.

There should be an option , It's a tick box, if you select the component in the Assy navigator- Properties- something like "specific color"

De-select that and it should revert to the original color.

Yeah I checked that already. While in the assy file it's just a grayed out box.

There are a number of things that affect the color of parts and components. I suspect that your assembly file is using a different color definition file (CDF) than your piece parts. Open a piece part in its own window and go to menu -> preferences -> color palette; then do the same for the assembly. If they are different, you can reset it to the system default or export out the one you want and import it into the other file.

Another thing to check is the random color display option is turned on. Menu -> preferences -> visualization -> color -> geometry -> random color display. If all your components are the same color, I doubt this is the culprit, but might be worth checking.

That did it Cowski! Color pallets were different, changed the assy's CDF to the part's CDF and everything's groovy. Thanks!

the Toma's answer
is the right one.

if its not working.

try checking it again save part
and uncheck it again.

When you change a component colour
in an assembly
the specific colour property of that
component is checked.

and when you want to revert it to
it's original colour.

you simply uncheck its specific colour.

that's the right way to do that.

When I encountered this unworkable phenomena.

I was playing with checking and unchecking
till bit works.

Edit

if its already grayed change the
colour to that component again
and by this it will be checked.

and now uncheck it and its colour
will be reverted to its original.
