I once (10 yr ago) used the Richardson manuals for cost estimating process piping installation costs. I did a google search today and can't find any hits for Richardson Engineering Services.

Anyone know what happened to them? Is there an alternative manual (other than Means) that people would recommend?

How about the John S. Page estimating manuals?
- Conceptual Cost Estimating Manual
- Estimator's Piping Man-Hour Manual

Yep, Aspentech bought them!
The only way you can get Richardson is though purchasing Kbase or IPM "Aspen Products"

I just inquired on purchasing the Richardson System the one I'm using now is from 1993. Aspen did buy them out but in 2002 but it returned back to the original operators. I just spoke with John Heikamp who has around 30 yrs with the original company and his phone number is 928 445 2483. They also have a web site where they are going to base all there info from in a form of printable PDF he spoke as if they were not going to issue hard back books anymore they would just update there website as needed. The web address is I hope this helped!
