Hello -

Per the attached image I cannot drop a column down from the ridge beam and valley rafter connection supporting them. Due to this I will be supporting them with a cross beam. I am looking for a hanger type connection that has three buckets to connect the (2) valley rafter and (1) ridge beam as shown in the attached drawing or another way to properly make the connection.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

No problem. Keep in mind, those heavy connectors are usually special order items. You'd do well to note that on the plan. Not sure how much experience you have with this sort of stuff, but I've had no shortage of contractors calling for a substitution because they assumed all Simpson products were off the shelf or overnight ship only to discover they had to custom fabricate it with a 4 week lead time and the roof framing will be on site in the morning with a framing inspection already scheduled for the following day. So I make a point of putting big notes on the drawings that some connectors are custom fab/special order and that the contractor must account for lead times in their schedule. Not fool proof, but it pulls the rug out from under their claims that I slowed the project down.

Thanks for the heads up. I am going to make sure to note these will be special order hangers.

Is there room for a big ledger under the mess? If so, you could put a concealed flange hanger on the ridge and support the valleys on a ledger. What is the valley reaction?

XR250 - The architect would like it clean underneath so I am showing it as a flush beam carrying the weight. It is in a mountain town in Colorado so the snow load is pretty high. The unfactored loads are, in lbs: D - 1350; Lr - 1650; S - 4900

Ouch, that is a lot. Using one of those bougie Simpson custom hangers probably makes sense given the likely budget on this job.
