my problem is this. we are using mobil pyrogard d for hydraulic oil in our steel mill roughing stands (for roll balance, raising and shifting stands. we have had 2 pumps go out in a month. and 2 valves also. I checked the return filter and the filter was plugged with a gummy substance. The hydraulic oil in the lines stay in the lines until it is activated. so it could sit in the lined from 24 hours to a month depending on what stand we are using. This is the first time the filter has ever looked like that. We pump from a drum to a tank. operating temp. is 120(f). psi 1200 to 1500.why the gum residue?

Which Pyrogard do you use?

I would make a quick check to see if someone has added the wrong oil to the system. Check your empty drums if possible.

I would collect a sample of the oil and bag the filter element if possible then contact your distributer and get a Mobil tech in to check the system out.
