I'm designing the mounting for a rigid body on a Ford F550 cab chassis using the spring loaded mounting method. I've searched but cannot find any specification for the springs I need to spec. I assumed there would be some general guidance somewhere on spring sizes based on body weight and payload capacity as this is a common and recommended mounting method. Anyone have any ideas? I know the package size I need but not the wire size & load. Thanks

The Ford body builder's manual does not specify. In fact it doesn't even mention this method however GM's body builder's manual does and it only specify's minimum bolt size.

The spring size and travel distance will depend on location on the frame, expected usage and actual loads and load directions. In most cases the load allowed should be based on the maximum GWV rating divided by the number of springs. The distance of travel may require measuring frame deflection from unloaded to loaded.
