Rigid-Ended Beam Element

Hi Guys,
I am sure you've come across coupled shearwalls. Does anybody have any idea how to model spandrel beams which couples the shearwalls by use of Rigid-Ended Beam Elements?

ETABS specificaly for structural engineering modelling . But, any general idea would be hlepful as well.

I'm not familiar with ETABS, but generally this kind of information might be in the help files.

If the program allows in-plane moments then a normal beam element could be used, otherwise you might create one almost weightless material of the same stiffness than the coupling beams and make it enter the coupled shearwalls; it will distort somewhat the stiffness but ***might*** be tolerable for practical use; that is, you would model the link RC and what entering the walls weightless.
