RISA pronounced like Liza or Visa

Has anyone been seeing targeted ads for RISA recently? They seem to have a new marketing campaign... Which is fine, of course.

But, what's weird to me is the company seems to have changed it's name, with the woman in the ad referring to a company with a totally different pronunciation. In the ad, she pronounces it like she's rhyming the name with Liza (as in Liza Minelli), as opposed to rhyming it with the word Visa.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed, or if the company has indeed decided to change the way they pronounce their name.

FWIW, I worked there for 16 years (from 2002 until the end of 2017). And, we most definitely did NOT pronounce it that way. Some of our customers would, but we'd usually correct them.

I haven't seen the RIZA thing but the promotional emails that I've been getting have become noticeably more aggressive. They often specifically reference the shortcomings of competing software packages. With respect to RISA's concrete design offerings I kind of feel as though the bravado is unjustified.

My aversion to this might just be my latent Canuck-ish-ness showing.

I always used to say it like Visa, but when I moved to the new office they did the Liza thing. I've now adopted that since I've been here 11 years.

LOL.

FWIW, I don't know much about the company anymore. I left 6+ years ago and now the only person there I know is the CEO (who I don't get along with after she stabbed me in the back) and maybe one single developer. I tend to believe your impression is correct in that the company is more focused on marketing these days. Which would men that it's less focused on engineering and development these days.

Caveat: My opinion and my beliefs are my own. And, they are affected by my past personal experiences which have plenty of bias and should be taken with a grain of salt.
