This particular area was difficult during the initial construction. Unfortunately, a lot of rock is available and the late Winter/early Spring sees a lot of this.

say, emmgjld, can you say anything more about the construction? how close is it to the tunnel portal?
 
This link shows the west end of the tunnel. In the pic of the hanging Lake Tunnel, you can see the electric sign and the crossover. This is the exact area of the slide.
 
Oops, I think that pic is actually the east end, but the layout is similar, and gives perspective of the slide vs. the tunnel location.
