Hello,
Does anyone here use RocScience RS3? I am trying to validate the Modified Cam Clay model using the analytical solution shown in
In this example they refer to the following article by Peric :
D. Peric´ (2006), Analytical solutions for a three-invariant Cam clay model subjected to
drained loading histories, Int. J. Numer. Anal. Meth. Geomech., 30, 363–387
They also claim to have spreadsheets that can replicate the tables they show on the verification example as stated by the following:
"These can be found in the RS3 installation folder. Also included in the installation folder are
Microsoft Excel spreadsheet files:
V018 (constant G) – NC Clay.xls...."
Since I only want to develop a similar benchmark for academic purposes, it seems like a bit of an overkill to buy RS3 just to get those excel spreadsheets. I tried to go the tough route of replicating these values on my own using the equations they provide. I was partially successfully but found a few errors in the formulas they are essentially reproducing from the above article. This makes it apparent to me that the validation document on its own is not sufficient to replicate the table values. Furthermore I have rented the Peric article and plan to study it in depth but would prefer a more foolproof approach.
I am happy to go ahead and share the spreadsheet I have developed which sort of replicates some of the table values for example 1 and discuss the details of what I am doing and whether the discrepancy is due to a silly mistake on my part or (intentional?) poor documentation on theirs. But really what I would like is a copy of the spreadsheets, plain and simple. Please let me know what option would be viable for this thread and we can go from there...
Thanks
