Roll Paper Storage - CMDA criteria

Regarding roll paper storage, looking at table 19.1.2.1.3(a) it looks like up to 10 ft of storage high, 0.3 gpm/ft2 over 2000 ft2 for heavyweight & mediumweight is required. However, par. 19.1.2.1.1 says that up to 10 ft height, ordinary hazard group 2 densities can be used (e.g. 0.2 gpm/ft2). This seem to be confusing as this is not in accordance with the table. At the end, can paper up to 10 ft be protected with 0.2 gpm/ft2 over 2000 ft2 regardless of ceiling height disregarding table 19.1.2.1.3 for that storage height?

Your answer is Section 19.1.2.1.3. For up to 10 foot high storage, regardless of ceiling clearance, an Ordinary Hazard Group 2 density over a 2,000 square foot design area is allowed for heavyweight and medium weight rolled paper, regardless the array. Exceed 10 feet and Table 19.1.2.1.3 (a) takes precedence for CMDA designs. This answer is based on the 2013 edition of NFPA 13.
