Rolled bar for Flange A350 LF2

Hi,

May I use a rolled bar (which is acc. to 350 LF2) to make a standard flange (e.g. B16.5) and declare it as 350 LF2? The raw material is not a "real" forging...thanks

SA-350 is reasonably clear in the exception applied to permission for machining from bar, for "flanges of all types."

Do you mean SA 350 Par.5.3.3? Does it mean that I could do it?

5.3.3 Except for flanges of all types, hollow, cylindrically-
shaped parts may be machined from rolled bar or
seamless tubular materials provided that the axial length
of the part is approximately parallel to the metal flow lines
of the stock. Other parts, excluding flanges of all types,
may be machined from hot-rolled or forged bar up through
and including NPS 4. Elbows, return bends, tees, and
header tees shall not be machined directly from bar stock.


... means that for hollow cylindrical shapes other than flanges of all types, you could use bar or tubular product forms, etc.

And if I took a rolled bar, I stamped/forged it to the dimensions that I want (before the final machining) and carried out mechanical/chemical test to it?
