Dear engineers,

I am not structural engineer, however i facing structural issue on my renovation project so I need your help.
Thanks guys in advance for all support you can provide, much appreciated.

I want to modify the roof/canopy on my balcony to make the two sections at same elevation with same slop all along and dropping rain water water outside.
I proposed a solution avoiding pillors and maintaining the 15 degree slop for rain water drop.
To reduce weight as possible, i found a local product made in cement fiber as substitute of clay tiles.

Could you please tell me if my solution if feasible ?
What type of mettalic profile is best for this support ? which tickness ?
What kind of bolt/method to use for fixing to concrete?
What space should i leave between support?

If this solution you think is not recommended, how would you design a canopy with pillors ?

Cheers.

One half of your problem is self-weight of the tiles and a lighter material will reduce that issue.

The other half is wind uplift and a lighter roof material will have more uplift.

This is the sort of project that should be designed by a structural engineer. What you want to do sounds feasible, but it needs to be designed by a professional. Please, do yourself and your neighbors a favor and don't approach this as a DIY...
