Roof repairs, API designed Tank

I am currently repairing the roof of an oil storage tank, roof is a supported cone design, tank is 51 ft. diameter. Unable to source the required length of material to fabricate rafters readily. Does API allow for splicing the rafters? It isn't clear from reading 650. Existing rafters are C7"x14#, intend to use MC7"x19#.
