Hi,
I have to built a new storage tank D:44m, H:19m, fixed conic roof with floating screen according to API 650.
What is the adequate structure of the roof.
Could be in steel profile ? or shall be with colomns?
I have doubt with the designer because he propose me a roof structure in steel Profile IPE 270 without any columns.
I will be gratefull if you could advice me acording to your experience.
Many thanks?

Typical roof structure for a tank of those dimensions would use a center column and one or maybe two rows of outer columns. A large self-supporting roof will be more expensive, and would not normally be used without some specific reason.

Thank you Mr J.Stephen
How I can convince the designer? I need calculation note or technical document
I am looking for Web site or specialized company which can give me service about this subject?
Thank You!

Contact some tank companies that are active in your area and ask what styles are available and the comparative cost.
