Roof Top Unit Connection to existing structure

How do you connect a roof top unit to the existing metal roof without having to add a platform on top of the roof. I know I acn reinforce th existing framing but how to detail the connection through the metal deck.

Cut a hole through the deck and fasten to the steel members below.

Set the unit on a metal rim that is mounted to wood sleepers spanning between the metal joists. This will allow for proper sealing and flashing of the roofing.

Is this metal roof deck with some type of built up roofing, or it is metal roofing?

One of my employers in SoFla was within shopping cart push distance of a scrap metal dealer.

He lost more than 20 rooftop condensers to junkie metal thieves before ending up with a welded cage around the units that was bolted to the structure below the roof.

Even if you don't feel the cage is justified now, do your client a favor and try to detail your setup so that such a thing is relatively easy to implement in the future.
