Dear ALL
Ar there any recommendation for how to reduce noise of roots blower, in there too much noise during pre-commensioning test in Coal power plant. Are there another type of blower noise is less than roots type.

Bit late now to be changing it after install. Does it meet the specification you set for the required maximum noise level in your datasheet (i.e. can you get the vendor to assist with the rectification).

Sound proof enclosure and/or building. Most of our blowers are in separate blower rooms and require double hearing protection to enter.

Not sure on alternatives.

As a chem eng/metallurgist the first part of any answer I give starts with "It Depends"

Roots blowers make less noise than many other types.
Is it louder than it is rated?
Are you sure that the piping is correct? (delta P, flow restrictions and so on)

Dear Edstainless

As I know, there is limited Blower as named Ring Blower, Roots Blower
Anybody can compare capacity and Noise for each other.

It is a bit late after the install but you can try a sound absorbing enclosure.

Do you have an intake and exhaust silencer.(Like a muffler on a motor vehicle)
Do you have a flexible preferably rubber section in the discharge pipe work not long after the blower discharge.
Are you running it within its rated speed and pressure range.

If it is an option you can try replacing it with a trilobe blower if the one you have now is only a bilobe.
Depending on its size you may be able to use a vacuum ring type blower to replace it.

Where is most of the noise from - the blower or the capacity-pressure control excess air blowoff on this blower discharge ?

Insulation an soundproofing may help. Try a Kaeser or Aertzen blower package.
