Rotating sketch text in Solidworks 1

I have just been asked by a colleage about this and have never been able to to it myself.

We have a sketch open with Text in it. We would like to rotate all of the text through 90°. When you create the text there is an option to rotate the text but this just seems to rotate each character throught an angle. We have also tried the rotate sketch command but this didn,t seem to work either.

Does anyone know how to do this?

We are using SW2008 sp3.1

I'm looking at 07 right now, but I don't think it's much different in 08. Draw a construction line in your sketch at the desired angle. Then, if you'll double-click the existing text, the property manager will come up. At the top is a box labeled "Curves". Select the construction line you just drew and the text will attach itself to it.

Using the curve method has the added advantage of being able to justify the text position, and even stretch the text, relative to the line length.

The "curve" can also be a separate sketch.

Its not what I expected and a little inconsistent with the way that other sketch entities work. However it works well and that is good enough for me. Just moved to 2008 and Im going through the joys of finding new stuff and the pain of nothing being where it was last week!

Edit sketch (text).
Go to: Tools/Sketch Tools/Modify.
Right-click to rotate, or type in number for rotation and hit 'Enter' button on keyboard.
