i wanna know that in rotor earth fault the turns of rotor are lincked with ground or stator....interturn fault may happen but how it connected to ground

dear devid as u say that the rotor earth fault takes place through the shaft of rotor, that means shaft of rotor is grounded...one more thing i wanna know that if only one winding is grounded through the shaft that is the typical case of 1st stage earth fault nd if two or more are grounded than they are shorted together nd case of second stage rotor earth fault

The first stage is likely a higher level of resistance, maybe 10 kohms, the second stage is a lower level of resistance, maybe 2 kohms. It's hard to say what the setting could be without knowing what type of equipment you have to detect the fault.

If you have a second ground on the rotor it would cause a short circuit. That is why you might want to get the first one fixed in a timely manner.

Yes, if you have a double earth fault in the rotor that means a serious magnetic unbalance and the unit has to be shut down immediately. Therefore the first rotor earth fault has to be investigated on a priority basis meaning the unit has to be stopped at the first opportunity.

The rotor earth fault protection (what type is it?) has nothing to do with the stator earth fault protection.

What type of generator is this?
