In the analysis of rotors say using FEA, I assume that the Coriolis (part of the damping matrix) is important, but how important are the stiffening and spin softening matrices (end up in the global stiffness matrix)? I can appreciate that they are important for blades where stiffening and softening is significant, but not sure how much influence they have for a cylindrical shaft?
