Engineers, I have to give a quick and rough cost estimate of 500m2 steel structure, I have no details of the layout, I only need to do a cost based on comparison to similar structures but unfortunately, I have not done any steel structure before.

any advice or comparison in terms of cost/m2 would be very much appreciated

thanks

Check Engineering News Record for their square foot cost estimate for steel structures. Convert to square meters.

Another reference is R.S. Means, they have a limited, free, database online for various building costs per square foot. For example, the estimated cost of a one-story, 7000 square foot office in 2013 is shown to be $185.34 / square foot. Here is the link to the index page: RS Means Square Foot Cost Models

R S Means sells a respected line of annual detailed publications that are useful for cost estimates.

Really depends too on the type of steel structure you are thinking about.

Pre-Engineered Steel Buildings (PEMB's) are much cheaper.

Mike,

That depends on the layout of the building (that the OP indicated he doesn't know).
