Are round capital forms still used for flat slab construction? I haven't seen them used for quite awhile. As an alternate, I can use a small, thick square drop as a capital.

This is for a project in Iowa. Are there any local formwork companies that you can suggest that I should contact?

My experience with column capitals has been that the contractors complain a lot about having to form them. The last flat slab I did, the contractor advised the owner it would be less expensive to pour the entire slab thicker, which is how we proceeded. I would think round column forms would be even more of a specialty item.

Agree. On every similar project I have done, the contractor preferred to used a flat plate with studrails instead of drop caps. That said, there's nothing to stop you from using a square drop cap with a round column (except cost and maybe aesthetics).
