While working on the design tables, have any of you guys got an error message "RPC server not avilable". The worst I need to restart my computer after to access the desiogn table. This error pops out as soon as I click on the data validation drop down list in my design table.

Dump Windows 2000. Are you using Windows 2000 Professional SP 4?
SolidWorks Recommends: Windows 2000 Professional SP 4.
SolidWorks 2007 does not support Windows 2000 Professional.

What version of MS office are you using? There are known issues with newer versions of office relating to this issue.

I use a pretty old version of MS office.

Office 97 ! There are plans to upgratde to Windows XP and Office 2003 in a month or 2.

However, I wish to learn to solve this.

That solves. Thankyou.

I have to bear with this error till we upgrade.

Just curious ... Why are you using the Data Validation? I have never found a need to use it, in fact I didn't even know it existed till you mentioned it.

[cheers]

I am sure many of us use this.

I have a part that is driven by a design table. In the excel design table I use a list option of data valadation (creation of pull down list to select from a range of cells). With this i can select a perticular value for the cell. The rest of the cells would be have a formula related to the selection cell.

Ex- a we can create a screw size (M5, M6, M8, etc) as a selection and the rest of the feild would evaluate with a formula.

:)

I just accidentally figured that if we donot use mouse on the cell to select and use arrow keys to navigate.
Type options required instead of click on pull down arrow.

It works without any error.

Mouse click on the validation cell trigers some kind of error.
