RPG

We use an ERP software (MAPICS)that is RPG based. I am tired of having consultants around. I want to learn RPG programming. I am old Fortran guy and I need to learn RPG without attending a class. Anyone that knows a website that offers free -LEARN RPG PROGRAMMING- will be greatly appreciated.

Don't have any info to help you out, but I was in the same boat about 20 years ago. RPG (at least at that time) had some very interesting quirks in terms of code formating (things must fall in the proper columns on the programming code line), also the flow of the program is unique in my opinion compared to Fortran or more conventional programming practices.
Check with your local community college about a class. That was how I learned it, and it served me well way back then. I probably couldn't code in it now if my life depended on it, but that's just 20 years hiatus.

Do you want to learn RPG III or RPG IV? Bob Cozzi has a website:

devoted to RPG IV developers. He also has several books on RPG IV programming. I don't know too much about RPG III, however. There's a ton of websites devoted to RPG, Google "RPG IV programming" and you'll get lots of hits (and probably some related to role-playing-games, an unfortunate coincidence of acronyms). I used a couple of books, "Subfiles in RPG IV: Rules, Examples, Techniques, and Other Cool Stuff" ISBN 1583470034 by Kevin Vandever; and "e-RPG: Building AS/400 Web Applications with RPG" ISBN 1583470085 by Bradley Stone, that were very helpful when I had to learn RPG IV.
