Rubber lining of tanks and vessels is, of course, limited by the temperature and pressure range of the process. Various types of natural rubber are very resistant to many acids, however, the temperature must be kept low (~160F or so...)in order for both the rubber and the adhesive to have a long life. Check with the manufacturer for his test data
External pressure on a tank or vessel is also a concern....... althogh not banned by the ASME/API code, significant external pressure is a bad idea for rubber lined tanks and vessels. Internal pressure (slight) can be accomodated by the stretch in the lining.
Many Chemical companies internally publish "Recommended Practices" for rubber lined vessel design. These are based on internal experience........ something that is becoming rare as gray haired "wrinkle-butts" retire or get fed up.....
