I have been asked to provide the estimated run time for our 2 meg generator if it were 75% loaded and had 2,000 gallons of fuel. Any suggestions on how I figure this. What information do I need to figure this? Many thanks.

find the BSFC at 75% load, and multiply by the rating.

BSFC will be X lb/hp.hr (or similar units)
(75%*rating)*(BSFC@75%) = lb/hr fuel

Check with the manufacturer, they have the data. they may even have it on the web. Cat does.
Hydrae

17 hours and 20 minutes.
13 kWHrs per gallon.
13 x 2000 = 26000 kWHrs.
2MW x 75% = 1500 kW.
26000 kWHrs / 1500 kW =17 Hr 20 Min.
conservative. Most modern engines do a little better. The energy is almost directly dependent on the weight of the fuel.
When checking manufacturers specs read the fine print for the SG of the test fuel.
I was reviewing fuel consumption specs for a number of diesel gensets. One manufacturer consistently reported about 10% higher kWHr per gallon than the others. I read the fine print and they were using fuel with 10% higher SG to test fuel consumption.
