Hello,

my company is planning to build a tankfarm in Russia, for storage of chemicals (methanol) and petroleum products (diesel fuel, gasolines). Typical API 650 installation.

At the present stage, we just need to do some considerations about safety distances, dikes, allowed tank heigths etc. in order to size the plant with respect to the available area.

We found difficult to identify the Russian GOST codes equivalent to API-650, NFPA 30.

Has anybody some experience about that?

Thank you very much.

I would not be surprise if it is the same NFPA but in the Russian language. Afterall, Russia has a reputation for copying Western technology.

Experience proven in time always similar in any mankind activity.
When you will be involved in business in Russia you understand difference. Second statement do not do you credit.

Hi everyone,

at least I've found a translated English copy of SNiP 2.11.03-93, "Storage of petroleum and petroleum products - Fire prevention and fire fighting standards". That's enough to start.

It contains safety distances, required flows of water/foam, sizing of tank groups, capacity of the embankments etc..

Quite different from NFPA 30, more restrictive on some topics, less restrictive on others.
