Hello,
Does anybody know which allowable stresses are permitted for an AS1210 vessel, e.g. made from 516 Gr.70?
Clause 3.3.9 says, "A factor of 3.5 may be used with the value Rm to determine the design tensile strength." I can go to Appendix A to establish the allowable stress values.
A new paragraph added to Appendix A (amendment) says, not listed materials "may be used with the design strength permitted by ... VIII-1 provided that the design strength does not exceed Rm/4 except as permitted by clause 3.3.9."
That´s a little bit confusing, for sure a lack of understanding from my side. To make it short: am I allowed to use the stress values from ASME Sec. II, Table 1A, or do I have to use RM/4 and Yield/1.5 for 516 Gr.70 under AS1210?
Any feedback would be welcomed.
