Would anyone be kind to explain the reason (if any), why LF6 forging(s) is not listed on ASME II-D Table 1A or 2A? In other words, it cannot be used for pressure parts designed to ASME VIII?

Thanks in advance,

My opinion, this particular specification specifically covers material for forged flanges, fittings and valves, and are referenced in ASME 16.xx. Typically, Section II of ASME reviews and endorses material for boiler and pressure vessel components based on use and code case applications.

Thanks Metengr,

In other words, since ASME is not discriminating against "foreign" materials and provided that the material is suitable for pressure vessel fabrication, the LF6 can be considered just like any other listed materials. In fact, Part A gives full details of this material and is listed in ASME B16.xx, therefore it is not in conflict with ASME VIII requirements, is this correct?

Cheers,
