For pipeline, When shall use Sacrificial Anode & when we shall use Impressed Current CP?

Our Contractor saying that they will use Impressed Current for our Carbon Steel pipeline, while they are plan for Sacrificial Anode for Duplex S.S trunkline.
Also they are saying no need for CP system for the Ductile Iron pipeline?

what do you think.

It depends on what is in the pipe. I think that impressed current is the way to go today. Sacrifial anodes will need to be maintained. Currenr can be supervised and an alarm can be arranged if current drops. Or maybe even increases. And then, no need to spring to action. Pipes can live for weeks and months with a non-functional protection. But not for years. Haven't done pipes, though. More bridges and tanks.

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.
