Hello,

Is it correct to use the acronim "MDMT" if talking about vessesl saddles? Fo rexample, if the vessel saddles to be exposed to -50 deg C, shall I mention MDMT or MMT (minimum metal temperature)= -50C? I was under the impression that "MDMT" applied only to pressure envelope.

Thanks.

You could use the acronym or the terminology for anything you wanted to. But if it's not covered by the code, there aren't any specific requirements for it.

Remember also that the saddle geometry and location has an effect on shell stresses which in turn may limit the MDMT of the shell. Otherwise either terminology could be used fro the saddles themselves.
