Safety Relays in America

Hello,

I'm based in the UK and am working on a project that'll end up in Bermuda, so the equipment we're selecting must mainly come from the American market.

For an E-Stop Safety Relay, we usually use Pilz.

Does anyone know if Pilz is a common, widely used brand over in the US, or does it tend to be Rockwell Guardmaster Relays over there?

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

I have never used Pilz but they seem to be commonly available here.

It's all okay as long as it's okay.

Rockwell safety relays are much much more readily available. Pilz has a few distributors in large markets, but outside of those 10-12 places they are scarce.

Rockwell's Guardmaster range are freely available in the UK, just maybe not quite as well-known as Pilz.

For a general purpose shutdown relay, I will generally spec the Allen Bradley 700S type of relay. It is available with up to 12 (convertible) contacts (either rated 10A or 20A).
I have never heard of the PILZ family of safety relays (in NA). The Rockwell Guardmaster Relays appear to be a direct replacement for the PILZ relays.

That's great, thanks very much for your input - as I thought Pilz is somewhat available but Guardmaster seems much more common.
