Hi,
I have received a concern (from environment specialist) during a Hazop analysis for a steamfield that what is the safety provision in the (unlikely) event of the two-phase or brine cross country pipeline rupturing (say, hit by a heavy truck)

Admitting this is improbable to "break" a properly designed geothermal high pressure pipeline, have you come across this question and/ or adopted any special precaution?

In the wellpads, we only have manual isolation / flow control valves. Looks like we need to have quick-actuated isolation valve on each wellpad ?

cheers,

Recommended for you

1. Limit truck and construction/forklift traffic on the site - have a safety video or training required, and limit on-site speed. You should be doing this anyway actually.

2. Then you've limited your "exposure" to truck damage to the "single" (?) pipe going off-site. If your enviro critic remains concerned, then you'll need only one quick-cutoff safety valve at the site fence.
