What is your application? This question sounds awfully like a typical materials process class homework question. If so, go find TTT and CCT diagrams for AISI Type 1050 carbon steel. By the way, only a hot salt bath is used to quench from the austenitizing temperature - a second quench is not required for austempering.

metengr,

I think onim was indicating that the heat source for austenitizing is a high temperature salt bath, not an atmosphere-type furnace.

onim,

Please provide some details on your application. If you are a student, you are violating the rules of this site.
