Hi All, I'm working a two large motor housing designs that weigh about 13k pounds. Do you know of any foundries that can manufacture this in one piece? I'm having trouble finding foundries in the US that can do cast steel in this weight.

thanks,
nick

If you need any help from Indian source, I can help you identify a suitable one.

dvd, thanks for the link... i'll try Bradken

arun, thanks i'll keep that in mind.

Don't try the USA, they(foundries) probably all moved out of the country after getting fines from the US EPA. It is criminal what the EPA has done to this industry.

Thank you unclesyd, i'll look into these. We'd prefer to have this done as one piece but a welded structure may be a viable solution for us.

nick,

There are still a few large foundries in the UK. Sheffield Forgemasters has a good reputation for quality, and I'm pretty sure that size is within their capability. Not really my field of expertise but they did a fair bit of complex work for a previous employer.

Try this list search for a foundry.
We have used a few of the one that came up on the quick search I just did.
BARBERTON STEEL INDUSTRIES Barberton OH U.S.A.
COLUMBIANA FOUNDRY CO Columbiana OH
MAYNARD STEEL CASTING CO Milwaukee WI U.S.A.

We have delt with.

FALK - REXNORD LLC Milwaukee WI U.S.A.
We have not delt with them but I have hear are impressive.

We use Southland for importing alot of our castings and I know they make Baldors castings.

I can not say enough about making sure you have very good pattern and core boxes.

Bradken - Amite did some good work for us years ago and did a lot of post casting machining and painting too.

Hope tis helps, David
