Hi,

Has anyone been using Revit structure to build their SAP models and if so how good is it?

Is there bi-directional compatibility and what versions of each software work best?

As I understand it, Revit interfaces with Autodesk's ROBOT which is the SAP of Autodesk. I'd say ditch SAP for ROBOT since compatibility is guaranteed and Autodesk have been pretty aggressive on the features too so should be competitive vs SAP.

But I don't have much engineering experience so take this with some salt.

I would agree for general analysis models. But ROBOT is quite limited especially in terms of non-linear time history analysis, which is the type of analysis I most often carry out. CSI products (Sap2000 and Etabs) are more superior for this type of analysis.

I know there is a translator, CSiXRevit, that supposedly works better for Etabs (2013) than SAP2000 (v15). Has anyone any experience using this software?? I am interested in bi-directional capabilities as my company is pushing BIM in a big way.
