Hi All,

To date I have been using openSees to complete most of my NLTH analysis and I quite like like using this programme. However, my company have decided to go with sap2000 for future NLTH analysis projects. My question is quite general but hopefully might start a discussion. I am quite sure that openSees is the superior product but what are the limitations of sap2000 compared to openSees. I am especially concerned about the assessment of concrete wall and masonry buildings.

My understanding is that to complete a full assessment using sap2000 it must be combined with perform-3d. But I have also heard that the best features of perform-3d will soon be migrated into sap2000. Is this correct?

Any comments or comparative reports welcomed.

Regards,
