Good Day,
I have modelled a square manhole with SAP2000 as a shell and opted for the one layer in the reinforcement design under the area section properties. I am now unsure how the N11 and N22 are calculated since the technical notes manual of SAP only mentions the formulas for the two-reinforcement-layer "sandwich model". How does the membrane force (f11,f22) get distributed between the top and bottom face values of N11, N22? What does the software consider the moment arm to be in order to get the force from the moment (m11, m22) and include it in the N11, N22?
I would like my one layer of reinforcement (both ways) to be at the center of the section and as such I have provided the cover to the centroid of steel accordingly for both directions.
