Hello everyone!
I am in a research environment and I can't afford a license for Sap2000. Therefore, I have started to use OpenSees (currently I am still a beginner). I was wondering:
-besides the obvious advantages in cost and automation (especially useful for parametric studies), are there other advantages of OpenSEES compared to Sap2000, in terms of modeling and analysis? In other words, is there anything I can do in OpenSees that I can't do in Sap2000?
p.s.: maybe "automation" for parametric studies is not a real advantage of OpenSEES, because you can do pretty much the same using OAPI for Sap2000 and easily use the post-processing power of Matlab or Excel (please consider that I am an advanced user in Sap2000 but only a beginner in OpenSees).
Regards!
