Does anyone know if it is possible to get a .sat file in to a useable format with NX?

You need a third party application.

Transmagic do the trick but there are a lot of programs that can translate .SAT into parasolid.

A google search should help.

Solidworks will do this I think autodesk Inventor will may be do this.
