Save as STEP - file doens't include PEMs

I have a sheet-metal assy consisting of the base sheet-metal part and all of the PEM fasteners that get installed into it.

When I save it as a STEP file, it only exports the main part and doesn't include the PEMs.

I am pretty sure it wasn't always like this; and that in the past it has included everything.

Is there a setting somewhere that got switched?

Thanks.

Look at your save options when "Save As". There are 3 options at the bottom of the dialog box when your save. You probably want All Components.

My bad, that's when you save as a part. But, try to save your assy as a part using this method, and then open it and then save as a STEP. I do this all the time.

I just saved an assy to STEP 214 format and when re-opened in SW, it had saved all the individual parts.

Try again with simple solids in the assy. If it doesn't work you may have to run a repair.

MDGroup,

Are the PEM fasteners actually solids? I have seen a lot of supplier parts turn out to be surfaces instead of solids. Some export formats handle surfaces better than others, but they pretty much all handle solids.

When I save as a part then re-open and export again, the PEMs are there, but the names are gone, everything comes in as 'imported1', 2, 3...

I went up a few levels, and exported a higher assy with additional components mounted to the sheet-metal part. That file came in fine with all PEMs and everything included in the STEP file.

Another user here can save the same assy as a step and it works fine.

Don't know what the issue is, but probably best to re-install and see if that fixes it.

Thanks.
