SAVE AS tries to save parts opened in the session

Hi,

General NX question..

Why does NX try to save all parts opened in session when I try to do SAVE AS on a Displayed part Iam working on.

Is there a way to stop NX from doing this..

I haven't noticed that. It will prompt you to save any open assemblies that the part you are "saving as" is a component of.

It tries to save those parts that have been changed.

I would have though that it shouldn't do that. However if needs must then you may want to make the components read only.
Also could you make sure that you tell us what version you're using next time maybe we can check it out for you.

NXsupport was talking about 'Save As' not just a simple 'Save', which can be addressed using 'Save Work Part Only'. However, I think that it will only try to save the Assembly/Sub-Assembly that the part is a component in and not any other parts which might have been modified in the session and are still open, at least that's the way NX 6.0.5.3 behaved during a small test I just performed.

I opened an assembly and modified a component but did not save it. I then changed one of the other components to be the Displayed Part and performed a 'Save As' operation and while it asked if I also wanted to 'Save' the Assembly, when I hit cancel instead, it performed the 'Save As' on the Displayed Part and ignored all of the other part files, including the one that I had explicitly modified for the test.

So as best I can tell, it's working exactly as was intended to work.

NX6.0.2.8... We have Structure update on save option turned on ,so that it syncs the PSE ( Teamcenter ) and ANT.. What I was trying to do is, on the displayed part, Do a SAVE AS to make a new rev..

Turning on structure update on save , can it be a issue?
