I looked through the search and I didnt find anything relating to my problem.

I have a problem when saving files, sometimes they save sometimes they dont. When they do work I have to change the name of the file. If I do not do this I get a long string of letters and numbers in place of the original file name. Has anyone seen this problem before?

I am in R17

Thanks

Usually, DURING the save operation, CATIA seems to make 2 temporary files as you describe (with a string of letters/numbers for the name). I assume 1 of these is the new file, while 1 is the old (original) file. That way if anything happens during the save operation, you still have a file.

But, when the save operation completes, the 2 files go away and the .CATPart file with the appropriate name remains. (sometimes I have to re-fresh the explorer window to see this).

If the result of your save operation is really one of these files with a weird name, then yes I would think something is wrong. I haven't seen that as a problem, I run R17 as well.

I have seen problems with the certified computers ram. We have some older ZPro IntelliStations still on line. I had the ram swapped out and the troublesome file saves correctly. I tried the usual, delete settings, run CATDUA. I had no problems with this file on a similar machine.

Thats intresting! I have tried the CATsettings, CATdua, Cache, Removing Cache and nothing works. I will try the Ram and see if that helps.

i change the virtual memory and also tried turning the cache back on. No luck so far.

If I'm not mistaken, any RAM that you use in a ZPro (on account of the Xeon processor) will need to be Registered ECC. In other words, no cheap upgrades on these.

Could be wrong, but that may be part of the problem if you have trouble on the ZPro.
