So I modified an assembly an saved saved saved multiple times throughout the modification process. Restarted the computer because SW was acting a bit goofy...another issue I was having... and when i went to open the file it was missing the components that I had added. Anyone else have this happen. This isnt the first time it has happened to me either. Not sure if it is some setting that is set incorrectly or not. Any suggestions as to what may cause this?

Thanks

"...modified an assembly..." Are you saying you added some In-context assembly features, or were you making modifications to parts in an assembly?

"...missing the components that I had added..." Were these created in-context, or did you insert new parts?

Also, what version of SW and what are the system specs of your computer? I'm having a hard time believing you are using a Student version on a C64 for commercial work.

Let me rephrase, I added some new components and also modified features in the assembly though not in context. The modified component was fine, the change that I made stayed the same. The added components though disappeared on reopening the assembly.

And maybe I should have prefaced it with SW 2008 64 with OS of XP 64.

And no...I don't think it would be possible to run SW on a C64....just trying to be funny......

Check in your Tools>Options>System Options

Make sure the proper boxes are checked/unchecked. If your inserted parts were "reference only" and you're telling SW not to save them, it won't.

Sorry, that should be Tools>Options>System Options>External References.

Eltron, I wasted many an hour playing Pirates! on my C64.

Were the assy components were Virtual Parts? Other people have had that problem. Some of them just didn't understand how to use that function properly, but others did not find a reason.

[cheers]

Were the new components virtual components. I have had instances where work on virtual components was lost due to SW behaving funny and not properly saving my last changes before a restart.

No they were not virtual components. I checked my settings and everything seemed ok.
