Found no option or setting to save a new file created in SW as an older version. In many other applications, it's an option that is available (office, Coreldraw...). The only "workaround" that comes to my mind is saving the file in a third party format (STEP, IGES, dxf?) and opening it from that format. Need to create a file in SW2010 and save for SW2008 and SW2009.

SolidWorks FAQ: Can I Save A SW Document As An Older Version?

No, there is no option for saving as an older version.

You will need to save as a step, iges, parasolid, etc.

This will open up as a dumb solid in the older version of SolidWorks.
