Hi,
I'm working for a new company that uses US customary scale instead of the ISO std. As you all know Solidworks automatically uses the scale ratio with a colon "1:2".

Is there a way for SW to automatically insert the fractional "1/2" using custom properties?

Thanks,
SWCADMAN

SWCADMAN,

In the ISO Drawing standard they list scale as 1:1, 2:1, & 1:4.....so I'm not sure doing it 1/2 is part of any standard.

Heckler,

1/1, 2/1... is the US customary per the drawing requirements manual. I'ver always used 1:1 2:1 etc. But this compant I'm working for now insist that I use 1/2, 1/1 etc.

1:2 is associated with metric drawings, 1/2 ... inches.

I would think it lies within the definition of the sheet format, but I'm not sure.

The custom property $PRP:"SW-Sheet Scale" returns a scale delimter as 1:1, 1:2, 2:1 etc.. I want a custom property scale delimiter to return 1/1, 1/2, 2/1 etc...

There is a way in the document properties - detailing - view labels to change the scale delimiter to 1/1, 2/1 in the detail views and section views...so I think there must be a way to change it in the sheet.

Thanks,

Is there a way to display the scale value as a decimal value...1:2 would be .500. We use the decimal value for scale at our company and I have not been able to get Solid Works to display it that way. Any help would be appreciated....

Using decimal is odd.
Beleive it or not, I have talked to people that has problems with it because of tolerance.
I suggest staying with fractions per stds.

SWCADMAN,

In Tools-Options-Document Properties-Under "View Labels" you can set your section, detail, and auxillary views to be 1/2 instead of 1:2. You just need to uncheck the checkmark in each section where it says "per standard". Then set the delimiter to X/X instaed of X:X.

This is how it is in 2005 & 2006. Not sure about previous versions.

Best Regards,
Jon

It's the same in SW2004 also. You need to have a drawing open to be able to see the View Labels option.
