Hey Folks
I have made myself up a model, I created 2 scenes and then I did a full drawing based on the 2 scenes I made. My boss got back to me the other day and informed me that 2 of the parts in the model needed to be changed.... big problem....

So I don't want to do this whole drawing all over again.

I know that these stupid scenes won't allow you to add parts but is there any way I could just delete the scenes, create 2 new ones and then just update the links with the drawing views?

I'm looking for some sort of a solution that doesn't involve redoing the whole drawing!

thanks

You can add parts to the scene.
1) activate the scene.
2) hide/show the new parts
3) take a snapshot
4) exit scene.

OR

1)Have the parts you want shown in the scene visible on the screen
2)RC over the scene - bottom of tree.
3)Apply assembly on scene
4)Reset All Hide/show attributes.

Update drawing.

Derek

I was under the impression that you could not add new parts to scenes...

if this works, I owe you a case of beer.

Neither of those things work, DBezaire. The parts I'm trying to get into the drawing are new parts. The parts were not in the assembly when I created the scenes or the drawing views.

I think the catch is that it has to be a partial scene (the option)and not a full scene, to be able to affect the structure

OK, I think I found a solution. If anyone knows of a better way to do this, I'm all ears.

I went into my assembly and deleted the old scenes.

I then recreated the scenes.

Then I went into the drawing and created 2 new views, based on the new scenes, just as I had before.

I then make one of the new views the active view.

I Right clicked on the active view, go to Front View Object>Apply Links To

I then selected the corresponding old view.

Regen and voila!

I then deleted the 2 new views.

I tried editing the links and modifying/repairing the links and I couldn't get it to work. This seems to be the only thing that works

If someone knows a better way to repair the links I would love to know.

You used full overload on your scene creation.

1. Apply the Old Scene to your assembly.
2. Create a New Scene.
3. Move the added parts to where you desire them.
4. Exit the scene.
5. Update the CATProduct to enforce the constraints.
6. Modify Links from the exploded view.
7. Remove the Old Scene from the list.
8. Navigate to the CATProduct, and select the New Scene
9. Add the New Scene to the list.
10. Update the view.

So you can add new parts to a partial overload scene? For some reason I though I had problems with that before.....??

And you can't change the scene from partial overload to full overload, right?

Weavedreamer, I don't really understand what you mean by 5, 6 and 8....

1. Apply the Old Scene to your assembly.
2. Create a New Scene.
3. Move the added parts to where you desire them.
4. Exit the scene.
5. Update the CATProduct to enforce the constraints.
6. Switch to the CATDrawing.
7. Modify Links from the exploded view.
8. Remove the Old Scene from the list.
9. Navigate to the CATProduct, and select the New Scene
10. Return to the CATDrawing.
11. Add the New Scene to the list.
12. Update the view.

While you cannot toggle between the to overload modes,
To change from partial overload to full overload,
1. Apply Partial Overload Scene to Assembly.
2. Create Scene in Full Overload Mode.
3. Exit the scene.
4. Update the product to reapply the constraints.

You could do this to change from Full to Partial as well.

My mistake Wallybanger

Replace step 3 with Overload Hide/Show, no snap shot required.

You must create these as Overload -- Partial

Try it with a blank product. Add a new part, create 2 scenes:Show and Hide. Set up the scenes 1 for show the other for hide. Add a new part to the product up date the Partial Overloaded scene with
You can add parts to the scene.
1) activate the scene.
2) hide/show the new parts
3) Overload Hide/Show
4) exit scene.
