Im looking at a vessel fabricated in 1972 ,heads and shells SA516-70 mawp 900 psi @ 265 F, shell and head normalized and PWHT , 18" LWN 400# flange manway with blind , pressuer tested to 1429 psi signed off and accepted , all other small 2" nozzles were 600# , my calcs. and charts show a 400# LWN flange will not support 900 psi, I don't have access to a code of that era was there some work around for the manway, since it is intended fro a new service I think it has to meet all current code to operate.

Per the 1968 edition of USA Standard B16.5 (now ASME B16.5), the allowable pressure of carbon steel 400# flanges is 917 psi at 265°F.
