Dear Posters,
I'm having the following display anomolies with (v18) on a "new" pc installation:
a) after starting V18, in the scroll-down menues such as for the entity-selection menus in "basic curves" (and all other functions with similar scroll-downs), I can select the scrolldown arrow ONCE and it works properly. Anytime after the first time selected, the scrolldown selections do not appear when the scrolldown arrow is selected; however you can sort of "drag" the cursor from the arrow and the selections will show up (slowly and somewhat erraticaly).
b) second issue is the model display does not automatically refresh if a selection menu is placed over the model and then exited.

I also have NX3 running on this pc, and it does not display these problems. (I'm using V18 still, because I really dislike the "gadgety" NX user interface). UGS GTAC support was not helpful.
This is a Dell 8400, pentium 4, 3Ghz, 512 M ram, with a ATI FireGL V3100 card. I have also switched video cards to a "lower level" ATI board and it displays the same issues.

I've also monkeyed around with the ATI settings, display and modelling settings with no effect.

I've had several different versions of UG running on several "lower power" boxes and have never seen this problem.
Thanks, Charles

I'd address the RAM....512 MB is barely enough to run XP (if that is your chosen O/S) these days, IMO. I believe UGS recommends a bare minimum of 1GB (1024 MB) RAM, but as usual, more is always going to be better.

Also, you might as well get used to the newer interfaces because they proabably aren't going to change (as much) in the coming years. If this pulldown not appearing correctly is such a big issue, then get rid of v18 and run NX, NX2 or NX3. UGS isn't going to support older versions forever, and they have already announced end of support for NX2, so you're either going to have to live with the v18 issues or upgrade if you can't find the solution to this pulldown not working right.

I used v18 for a couple of years and I do not recall ever having the problem you're describing.
